About Lums Pond State Park

Our good friends clued us in to how amazing Lums Pond is a few years ago, and we’ve been camping there every year since.  Each time, we bring a few more friends with us so that they can enjoy this spacious campground.  Lums Pond is a Delaware State Park located in Bear, DE.  We love the biking trails for the kids, and the guys in our group like to fish and take their kayaks out in the lake.  The sites are large, grassy, and most have a lot of shade.  We normally visit Lums Pond once the school year starts because it’s not a far drive for us.

What’s near the area?  I have no idea because we enjoy the campground so much that we don’t ever leave once we set up camp.  You can ride your bikes to the Go Ape Ziplining Adventures but that’s about the extent of my knowledge of the area.

This state campground used to be a quietly unknown gem but as the camping crowd has grown, so has the knowledge of this fabulous campground.  As a result, we often book 9-12 months in advance.  Insane, right!  The sites are full hookup and you can’t beat the price.  Most importantly, we love that we always go with a large crew.

Our Lums Pond Crew

This past trip included the Faunt and Funcle and their kids, along with their high school friends and our high school friends.  My parents joined us as well, as did my husband’s coworker and his family.  This trip tends to be one of the kids’ favorites because they love playing with the group of friends that accompany us and at the end of the camping season when we ask them which trip was their favorite, they normally say either Lums Pond or Pine Creek.

Activities We Love to Do

Like I said above, we normally come to Lums Pond to socialize with our friends but we do love the bike trails in the park.  For more information about activities near by, I’ll refer you to this handy website.

Trip Video

I normally put my phone down and forget about the world while visiting Lums Pond so this is a video compilation through the years, rather than just our 2021 trip.

Recent Travels

I have categorized each of my posts about campgrounds in order to make them easy to spot.  Each time we visit a campground, I provide a review at the end of each post.  Huge caveat – my taste may be different than yours and that’s quite okay but make sure you read my Rating Criteria to see what we are seeking when making our final judgement.
