Just when I thought that the Segway was the way to get around Gettysburg, a friend of mine who lives in G-burg recommended Gettypeds. These adorable Scoot Coupes reminded me of a miniature Sling Shot. It’s a 3-wheel vehicle but itty bitty. Because we did a 1-week Gettysburg trip with our kids and parents, we opted for this route as our Battlefield Tour. Each of us took a kid and we motored around via a certified National Park Guided Tour. Our Tour Guide, Truman, gave a rich history of the Battle of Gettysburg, including an explanation of how to tell if a cannon was authentic or a replica.
Gettypeds have expanded their business since we went on our tour in 2018. If you visit their website, you can also book e-bike and Model A tours! We certainly will try one of these on our next trips.
I swear we went on THE HOTTEST day of the year, but this is the part of the trip that we all still talk about. While it is expensive at $140 a coupe (or $70 a person if you find a friend to ride along with you), we want to do it again. They were easy to operate, but you must be 18 and a licensed driver. I thought the narrative of the Battle of Gettysburg was worth the price alone.
